In 1&2 color printing, only one or two ink colors are used. The inks used are typically Pantone colors and are frequently used to print a logo, design or symbol in a unique color. If you or your company is looking for a specific color looking print product, using pantone colors is the most reliable option for consistent colors.
1&2 color printing is ideal printing on special paper stocks like linen and laid (felt) cover, which are unavailable with 4-color printing methods. Other advantages include being able to consistently reproduce spot colors for certain colors such as navy blue, bright orange or metallic colors that are impossible to produce using CMYK inks. Disadvantages: unless one of the colors used is black or a dark color, test readability might not be optimal.
